Graduated from the University of Malaya with a BA in Chinese Studies. Upon graduation she worked as a journalist in a local Chinese daily and went for further study at California State University Los Angeles. She obtained PhD in Political Science from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2013. After graduation, she had worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Malaysian Chinese Research Centre in 2013-2015 and later as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Chinese Studies.
毕业于马来亚大学中文系。毕业后曾就职于国内一中文报章， 之后赴美国加州州立大学洛杉矶分校继续深造，获得政治学硕士。 后来在马来西亚槟城理科大学政治系修读博士，于2013年毕业。 之后，曾在马来西亚华人研究中心担任博士后研究员， 于2015年转至马来亚大学中文系。
Her works were published in the Asian Journal of Social Science, Malaysia. Malaysian Journal of Malaysian Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society (JMBRAS), Southeast Asian Affairs （东南亚研究）etc. She also contributed chapters in edited books by Meredith L. Weiss (2014, 2017) on Malaysian electoral politics.
